At GB Liners, we pride ourselves on our staff, and today we celebrate a true legend – Matthew Tullett! For an incredible 25 years’ service! It’s 29 years if you count the breaks in his employment, to join the Police force and travelling in Singapore, USA & Australia.
An Impeccable Record of Service
Matt started his career with us at the Brighton depot, then ventured to London and Cirencester, before finding his way back to his beloved Brighton branch – where he remains to this day.
Think back to 1995. The Spice Girls were rocking the charts, dial-up internet was the height of technology, and Matt was just starting his journey with GB Liners. That’s a lot of water under the bridge, and during that time, he has seen it all!
25 Years of Change in the Removals Industry
Forget fancy sat-navs and Google Maps too, Matt relied on a unique sense of direction, using landmarks like local churches and pubs to find his way, which he still does to this day, much to the amusement of the younger crew members we have.
The removals industry has undergone a massive transformation in the past three decades, from packing techniques to regulations. “It’s definitely been a different world,” chuckles Matt. “One thing that’s never changed is the team spirit here at Brighton,” he says. “We’ve always had a great bunch of guys, and that’s made all the difference, especially on those long-distance removals.”
Matt’s Moving Career Highlights
25 years is an incredible milestone. It speaks volumes about Matt’s work ethic, passion for the job, and loyalty to GB Liners. Moving people from stately castles in Scotland to sun-drenched caves in Spain, Matt’s seen it all. He’s helped families and businesses move across the continent, from the rolling hills of France to the charming canals of Holland and Denmark.
His dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. We all remember when Matt suffered an Achilles heel injury – perfect timing, as it turned out, coinciding with the 2012 London Olympics! Matt used his recovery time to the fullest, soaking up the Games’ atmosphere.
Through it all, Matt’s expertise, good humour, and unwavering commitment have been invaluable assets. He’s a walking encyclopaedia of removal knowledge, a mentor to newer drivers, and a constant source of entertaining stories (some of which might be best kept off Facebook!)
Matthew, from all of us at GB Liners, a heartfelt thank you for your incredible service. You’re a true inspiration, and we’re so lucky to have you on our team! Here’s to many more years of removals adventures!
