RUGBY MEMORIAL MATCH – GREYHOUND RUGBY CLUB VERSUS THE BARBARIANS

30th April, 2024

To right of field Sam Griffiths in action

On Saturday, 27th April, Sam Griffiths (GB Liners International Manager) and Sarah Simpson’s (GB Liners Import Manager) husband, Lee Simpson, put on their  rugby boots to play a charity/memorial  game of rugby against the Combined Services Barbarians.

This was a hard game of rugby for the Greyhound Rugby Club with some of their players donning their boots for the first time in years, but every single player on the field gave it their all!

The Barbarians are a Rugby Union team who comprise predominantly current and former members of the HM Armed Services from across the UK.  They play a number of matches each year to raise funds for charities that directly help serving and ex-service personnel and their families. This game was played for the Steve Tobin/Paul McAleese Memorial Cup.  Well done Barbarians on winning the cup!
